Dubai's gleaming skyscrapers conceal city's labor abuse

The issue of labour abuse seems to have reached the international media. After years of talking among people and hearing stories of the rights abuse of the men behind the most glamorous projects in the world, its good and interesting to note that not only are the mega projects of Dubai being appreciated but also the workers rights are being taken into consideration. Its not just enough to keep filling the media with new project worth billions of dollars everyday but also keep in mind that these would not be possible if there aren't some that can be exploited. Are these buildings the same as expensive designer wear being stitched by some orphan kid in some dingy corner of recessive Asian countries. Is anything ever going to be done or is it just going to be a point of media concern and then forgotten? All one can say is to wait and see. Minimum wages, labour forums, revised labour laws...some of the issues recently discussed and eagerly awaited by the expat community but is it really going to work.
